KARACHI: Karachi turned into a colourful display of solidarity as major landmarks across the city were illuminated following the signing of a defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in Makkah.
The coordinated lighting and display of the three countries’ national flags transformed several prominent locations, creating a festive atmosphere and highlighting the longstanding ties among the three Muslim-majority nations.
The Sindh Assembly building emerged as one of the most visible symbols of the occasion, with the flags of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye prominently displayed across the landmark.
The Sindh Secretariat was also illuminated with specially arranged lights reflecting the colours associated with the three countries. The government complex took on a distinctive appearance as residents and motorists passed through the area.
Historic Frere Hall was another major attraction. The Karachi landmark was decorated with colourful lighting, adding a celebratory atmosphere to the city’s evening skyline and drawing attention from residents and visitors.
The flags of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye were also displayed along major roads and at other prominent locations across Karachi as part of the coordinated show of solidarity.
The decorations came after Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed the defence agreement in Makkah, a development that has attracted significant attention because of the countries’ close political, economic and strategic relationships.
The agreement reflects efforts to deepen cooperation among the three countries in areas of mutual interest, while the public displays in Karachi provided a visual expression of the friendship and solidarity associated with the development.
For Karachi, the occasion was marked not only through official announcements but also through the city’s landmarks and nighttime skyline.
