Rawalpindi Mall Road Attack: Police Reveal New Details After Gunman Is Killed

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Rawalpindi police say a security personnel was wounded during the Mall Road shooting before the attacker was killed in retaliatory fire.

RAWALPINDI: A shooting incident on Rawalpindi’s Mall Road took a significant turn Tuesday after police said a man identified as Muhammad Hussain opened fire on security forces, leaving one personnel wounded before the attacker was killed in retaliatory fire.

According to a statement issued by the Rawalpindi Police spokesperson, the incident occurred at around 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 11, 2026, when Hussain allegedly fired at a security forces patrol team on Mall Road.

The police said one member of the patrol team sustained injuries in the firing. Security personnel responded immediately and killed the attacker during the exchange of fire, according to the statement.

Police said investigators also recovered a mobile phone and other items from Hussain’s possession. The material has reportedly provided additional evidence that could help authorities determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and establish the suspect’s activities.

The police spokesperson further claimed that Hussain was affiliated with a specific political party. The statement did not provide further details about the alleged affiliation or explain whether investigators had independently established the connection.

Authorities are expected to examine the recovered material as part of the ongoing investigation. Further findings could shed light on the motive, background and possible links of the attacker.
