Karachi court acquits Anmol alias Pinky in a 2021 drug case after her lawyer argued that the co-accused had already been cleared.
KARACHI: An Additional District and Sessions Court South has acquitted Anmol alias Pinky in a drug case registered at the Gizri police station in 2021, bringing an end to proceedings against her in the case.
The court accepted Anmol’s acquittal application and ordered her release from the case. She had been declared a fugitive during the proceedings.
During the hearing, the defence counsel argued that two other accused persons nominated in the same case had already been acquitted. According to the lawyer, co-accused Ali and Fahmida were acquitted in 2024.
The defence further maintained that Anmol was implicated in the case on the basis of statements given by the co-accused. With those accused persons already acquitted, the lawyer argued, there was no reasonable possibility of securing a conviction against Anmol on the same basis.
After hearing the arguments, the court approved the acquittal plea and acquitted Anmol alias Pinky from the case.
The case was originally registered at Gizri police station in 2021 under drug-related charges. Anmol remained a fugitive in the case before seeking relief from the court.
