Selena Gomez’s lawyer has rejected fraud allegations tied to Wondermind and said the singer plans to challenge the lawsuit in court.
LOS ANGELES: Selena Gomez has rejected allegations of fraud brought against her over Wondermind, the mental fitness startup she co-founded with her mother, Mandy Teefey, and entrepreneur Daniella Pierson.
The legal dispute escalated after investors filed a lawsuit in federal court in Delaware accusing Gomez, Teefey, Pierson and Wondermind of misleading investors about the company’s leadership, infrastructure and business plans. The plaintiffs say they invested nearly $1.2 million in 2022 after being given assurances about the startup’s future.
Gomez’s attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, strongly denied that the singer engaged in fraud or other wrongdoing. He described the allegations as meritless and said Gomez’s legal team intends to vigorously defend her while seeking dismissal of the claims.
The lawsuit alleges that investors were led to believe Gomez would play an active role in Wondermind, including serving as its head of marketing. The plaintiffs claim she failed to fulfill responsibilities they say were included in contractual commitments.
According to the allegations, investors were also presented with ambitious plans for Wondermind, including a mobile application, mental wellness services for corporate employees and potential partnerships with major financial institutions. The investors argue that several of those initiatives never materialized.
Wondermind was launched in 2021 as a platform focused on “mental fitness,” with the founders seeking to build a broader digital wellness business. The company later developed online content and other offerings, but the lawsuit alleges that its larger business plans failed to take shape.
The case follows earlier reports about financial and management problems within the startup. Investors allege they learned more about Wondermind’s difficulties after media reports in 2025 and subsequently sought the return of their investments.
