Wana journalists and residents say repeated requests for PTCL fiber connections have remained unresolved for nearly a month.
WANA: Residents and journalists in Lower South Waziristan have expressed serious concern over alleged delays in the provision of PTCL fiber internet connections and the lack of timely response to complaints, urging relevant authorities to intervene.
Affected users and journalists said several individuals and institutions have been contacting the concerned PTCL exchange for nearly a month to obtain fiber connections. However, they said repeated requests and follow-ups have so far produced no practical progress.
Journalists at the District Press Club Wana said the press club has also been waiting for a fiber connection for about a month. They claimed that fiber connections are being provided at judicial, government and private locations around the press club, while the press club itself continues to face delays in receiving the service.
According to the journalists, the delay is creating difficulties in carrying out their professional responsibilities, particularly as stable and high-speed internet has become essential for news gathering, communication and other journalistic work.
The journalists said they had repeatedly been given different times and new dates for the connection, but the issue remained unresolved after the promised deadlines passed. They called for a transparent explanation from the relevant authorities regarding the delay.
Affected residents have also complained of repeated postponements. They said they have been told at different times to visit the exchange in the morning, the following day or later, but several weeks have passed without a clear resolution or confirmation of when their fiber connections will be provided.
Users said reliable, high-speed internet is now a basic requirement for education, businesses, government-related work and other activities. They expressed concern that residents in Lower South Waziristan are facing unnecessary delays and difficulties in obtaining fiber service.
The District Press Club Wana journalists and affected users have called on Lower South Waziristan Deputy Commissioner Musarrat Zaman, the assistant commissioner and other relevant authorities to take immediate notice of the matter.
They urged the authorities to seek an explanation from PTCL officials, review the process for providing fiber connections and ensure that pending requests are addressed without further delay.
The journalists and users also called for a transparent, uniform and timely system for fiber connections so that residents and institutions do not have to repeatedly visit the exchange or remain uncertain about the status of their requests.
They said they reserve the right to raise the issue before relevant forums and stage protests if the matter is not resolved promptly.
