PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan says the Sept. 27 march will remain peaceful and urges opposition parties to join the call for democratic change and new elections.
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the party’s planned march on Sept. 27 would be peaceful and aimed at seeking democratic change rather than creating disorder.
Speaking at the Peshawar High Court, Gohar said the march was not being organised as a matter of choice or for political spectacle, describing it as a “Justice March.”
He said the PTI would demonstrate that its supporters were peaceful and stressed that government resources would not be used for the march.
“Our long march will be peaceful, and we will prove that we are peaceful people,” Gohar said.
The PTI chairman also expressed the hope that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other joint opposition parties would participate in the Sept. 27 march.
Gohar said the public wanted change through democratic means, with the rights of all citizens protected. He also called for new elections as part of the political process.
He further called for a broader political settlement in Pakistan, drawing a comparison with the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah.
According to Gohar, such a settlement should protect the rights of everyone and involve all stakeholders. He said it should also provide relief to the public and help ensure political stability.
