Peshawar police say four suspects have been arrested following an alleged home invasion and sexual assault in Garhi Mosam Khan.
PESHAWAR: Police have arrested four suspects following an alleged home invasion and sexual assault involving women in Garhi Mosam Khan, authorities said Wednesday.
The incident reportedly took place within the jurisdiction of Rehman Baba Police Station, where the suspects allegedly entered a house and held women present there hostage before committing a serious offense, according to police officials.
SSP Operations Farhan Khan and SSP Investigation Dr. Muhammad Sami Malik told a press conference that police launched immediate action after receiving information about the incident and arrested four alleged suspects.
According to police, investigators used available evidence and technical resources to trace and apprehend the suspects. Weapons allegedly used in the incident, along with other evidence, were also taken into custody, officials said.
SSP Investigation Dr. Muhammad Sami Malik said all aspects of the case were being examined and the investigation was proceeding on the basis of evidence. Further questioning of the arrested suspects is underway.
Police also said an attempt was allegedly made to harass a minor girl during the incident. Investigators are examining the allegation as part of the ongoing probe.
Police officials said legal action would be taken against those found responsible in accordance with the law. They added that efforts were continuing to ensure justice for the affected family.
