Shakira has launched her 12-show Madrid residency at Macondo Park, thanking international fans who travelled to Spain for the performances.
MADRID: Shakira has thanked fans from around the world who travelled to Madrid to attend the opening of her 12-show residency at Macondo Park.
The Colombian singer shared a series of photographs from the opening night of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour residency on Instagram on Saturday, Sept. 19. The images showed Shakira performing before a large audience at the specially created venue.
In her message, Shakira expressed her appreciation to fans who had travelled from different countries to see her perform. She also highlighted the concept behind the Madrid shows, saying she had created an entire city for concertgoers to explore and enjoy alongside the music.
The Madrid residency began Sept. 18 and is scheduled to continue through Oct. 11 at Macondo Park, which is part of the Iberdrola Music venue in Madrid’s Villaverde district.
Macondo Park has been designed as more than a conventional concert venue. The entertainment complex includes themed areas inspired by music, food, literature and fashion, while also reflecting different stages of Shakira’s career.
The concept draws inspiration from Macondo, the fictional town featured in Colombian author Gabriel García Márquez’s acclaimed novel One Hundred Years of Solitude.
The venue’s design gives the Madrid residency an experience that extends beyond the main performances, with visitors able to explore different themed spaces around the concert area.
Shakira’s social media post attracted widespread attention, receiving hundreds of thousands of likes and numerous comments from fans praising her performance and the overall concert experience.
The opening show featured songs from different stages of Shakira’s career, bringing together recent releases with some of her older favorites.
