Veteran actress Sangeeta discusses her third marriage, past relationships and the importance of companionship and respect in later life.
Veteran Pakistani actress and filmmaker Sangeeta has opened up about her personal life, discussing her third marriage, previous relationships and her experiences with domestic abuse.
Speaking on The Yazziastic Show, hosted by Yasir, Sangeeta revealed that she is currently married to Tariq Mendro, a film industry professional and distributor. According to the actress, the couple got married around 14 years ago.
Sangeeta said she decided to marry again after her daughters had been married and she found herself living alone. She explained that Mendro had proposed to her several times before she eventually decided that having a companion could be meaningful as she grew older.
The actress said she was particularly comfortable with Mendro because of his attitude toward her. She said he does not use abusive language, physically hurt women or engage in unnecessary arguments.
Sangeeta explained that disagreements in their marriage are generally dealt with through silence and giving each other space. She said that when either of them becomes angry, they avoid prolonging the argument and instead allow each other time to calm down.
According to Sangeeta, this approach has contributed to stability in their relationship. She also said that her husband loves and supports her.
The actress also spoke candidly about her earlier marriages. She revealed that her first marriage was to Humayun Qureshi, while her second was to Naveed Akbar.
Sangeeta said she eventually opted for divorce after experiencing physical abuse. Recalling that period, she said she would sometimes reach the studio with visible bruises.
She described physical violence as a serious warning sign in a marriage and stressed that no one should accept a relationship in which they are subjected to violence.
Her comments have attracted attention because she openly discussed the difficulties she faced in her earlier marriages while also explaining her decision to seek companionship later in life.
Sangeeta has remained associated with Pakistan’s entertainment industry for decades as an actress and director. Her directing credits include Society Girl, Nikah and Sona Chaandi.
She is also associated with upcoming projects, including the feature film Mukho, which stars Saima, Moammar Rana, Meera and Layla.
Sangeeta has also directed the upcoming drama Bhulley Shah, featuring Saima, Shahid, Ayesha Fayyaz, Kamran Mujahid and Zaviyar Nauman.
