Pakistan and Saudi Arabia sign a visa waiver agreement for diplomatic, official and special passport holders to facilitate official travel and strengthen bilateral ties.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to waive visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, official and special passports, a move aimed at facilitating official travel and strengthening institutional ties between the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar signed the agreement with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session.
The agreement will make travel easier for eligible passport holders from both countries and is expected to facilitate high-level visits and institutional exchanges between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Speaking after the signing, Dar welcomed the agreement and described it as a positive development in bilateral relations.
He said the decision would further facilitate high-level contacts and institutional exchanges between the two countries. Such exchanges play a role in maintaining regular communication between government institutions and supporting continued cooperation.
Dar said the agreement would also contribute to expanding the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
He added that the move would support greater cooperation in areas of mutual interest and help deepen bilateral engagement between the two countries.
The agreement comes as Islamabad and Riyadh continue to strengthen their longstanding relationship through diplomatic engagement, economic cooperation and high-level exchanges.
The visa waiver arrangement is specifically focused on diplomatic, official and special passport holders, making it primarily relevant to government officials and other eligible representatives travelling for official purposes.
The development is expected to facilitate more regular official visits and institutional interaction between the two countries as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continue to build cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
