Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance delegation discusses parking facilities and axle load management with Maritime Affairs Minister Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry in Islamabad.
A six-member delegation of the Pakistan Goods Transport Alliance met Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry in Islamabad on Sept. 23 and thanked him for his efforts to address parking problems faced by goods transporters.
The delegation, led by alliance President Malik Shehzad Awan, met the minister at his office. Nisar Hussain Jafri, Bakhtawar Khan Wazir and Umar Farooq were also part of the delegation.
During the meeting, the participants discussed issues confronting transporters, particularly the availability of parking facilities and axle load management.
Chaudhry said he remained committed to the commitments he had made during his previous meeting with representatives of the transporters’ organization.
The minister said the 17-acre land proposed for the construction of a parking facility for transporters was still available.
The delegation and the minister also discussed the issue of axle load management. Chaudhry directed representatives of the association to hold a meeting with relevant port representatives to work toward an acceptable solution to the matter.
The meeting focused on addressing operational issues faced by goods transporters, with parking facilities and axle load management among the key concerns discussed.
