Pakistan received three recognitions at the CTO Digital Excellence Awards 2026 for initiatives spanning digital policy, e-government and spectrum governance.
Pakistan secured three honours at the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) Digital Excellence Awards 2026 in London, receiving international recognition for initiatives covering digital policy, e-government and telecommunications governance.
The awards were held in London as part of the CTO’s 125th anniversary celebrations and recognised Pakistan’s initiatives in digital innovation, citizen-centric public service delivery and telecommunications regulation.
Pakistan won the Digital Policy & Regulatory Excellence category for its “Establishment of National Incubation Centers” project. The initiative has created a nationwide network of incubation platforms aimed at supporting young innovators and entrepreneurs as they develop ideas into viable enterprises.
The incubation centres provide mentoring, technology support, business development services and access to investor networks, according to the project description.
Pakistan also received the Runner-Up, or Silver Medal, in the 21st Century Government / E-Government Initiatives Excellence category for “Transforming Government Relief Delivery Through Digital Transformation.”
The initiative focuses on using digital systems to improve the delivery of government assistance by strengthening transparency, efficiency, targeting and accountability. It also aims to enable faster and more inclusive access to relief.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s “Integrated Spectrum Governance Reform” project was named a finalist and received the Bronze Medal in the Digital Policy & Regulatory Excellence category.
The reform introduces a more coordinated and evidence-based approach to spectrum management. Its objectives include improving connectivity and service quality, supporting next-generation telecommunications and facilitating greater investment in the digital economy.
Pakistan was the only CTO member state among the organisation’s 56 members to secure finalist nominations in three entries and receive recognition for all three across two major award categories, according to the statement.
Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja described the recognition as a proud moment for Pakistan.
“Pakistan’s recognition across three initiatives at the CTO Digital Excellence Awards is a proud moment for the nation,” she said, adding that it reflected the work of institutions across the country in advancing Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of a Digital Pakistan.
Khawaja said the government’s focus remained on translating technology into opportunities for young people, improving access to public services, strengthening connectivity and developing a more competitive digital economy.
She said the recognitions demonstrated that Pakistan’s digital transformation efforts were gaining international recognition.
The CTO Digital Excellence Awards recognise digital initiatives demonstrating impact, innovation and leadership in advancing digital transformation, while promoting knowledge sharing and inclusive digital development across the Commonwealth.
