PM Shehbaz Directs Comprehensive Plan for Winter Gas Load Management

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reviews preparations for winter gas demand, with households prioritized for local gas and RLNG earmarked for power generation and industry.

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed authorities to formulate a comprehensive strategy for gas load management during the upcoming winter and take advance measures to ensure an uninterrupted supply.

The prime minister chaired a meeting on winter gas load management in Islamabad, where officials briefed participants on preparations and proposed measures to manage gas demand during the colder months.

Shehbaz directed authorities to launch an extensive public awareness campaign to inform consumers about the gas load management strategy and encourage the use of alternative energy sources at the household level.

In view of the prevailing regional situation, the prime minister also directed authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure the uninterrupted import of gas.

According to the briefing, domestic consumers will be given priority in the supply of locally produced gas. RLNG, meanwhile, will be prioritized for electricity generation and industrial requirements.

Officials said a public awareness campaign would also be launched to promote alternative energy sources in place of locally supplied gas for household use, particularly for water and space heating.

The meeting was further informed that measures were being taken to ensure uninterrupted transmission of available gas from reserves in the northern areas of the country.

A proposal to introduce bank financing facilities for electric appliances used for water and space heating was also under consideration, according to the briefing.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Ali Pervaiz Malik, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Industries Haroon Akhtar, Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kiani, and senior relevant government officials.

The government’s winter gas management plan is aimed at preparing for seasonal demand while prioritizing domestic consumers for local gas supplies and allocating RLNG for power generation and industrial needs.
