Pakistan Weather Department Predicts Shawwal Moon Sighting on April 9

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Pakistan’s Meteorological Department forecasts a possible Shawwal moon sighting on April 9, raising the prospect of Eidul Fitr on April 10.

Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has forecast that the Shawwal moon, marking the end of Ramadan and the beginning of Eidul Fitr, may be visible across much of the country on April 9, potentially placing Eidul Fitr on Wednesday, April 10.

According to the department’s forecast, the new moon is expected to be born at 11:21 p.m. on April 8. By the evening of April 9, the moon’s age is expected to reach between 19 and 20 hours, while its visibility period after sunset could exceed 50 minutes.

The department said weather conditions are expected to remain clear in most parts of Pakistan, including southern areas, on April 9. However, cloudy conditions may prevail in northern parts of the country, potentially affecting moon visibility in those areas.

If the Shawwal moon is sighted on April 9, Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10, according to the forecast. However, the final decision on the beginning of Shawwal and the date of Eid will depend on the official moon-sighting process.

Earlier, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad had also indicated, based on scientific considerations, that Ramadan could last 29 days. That assessment likewise pointed to the possibility of Eidul Fitr falling on Wednesday, April 10.

The moon-sighting forecast provides an early indication of the likely Eid date, but weather conditions and the official sighting determination remain important factors in confirming the start of Shawwal.
