Pakistan has finalized its 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, featuring several surprising selections. Former captain Babar Azam has been included, while key players Mohammad Rizwan and Haris Rauf were left out, according to private TV sources.
The squad reflects a balance of youth and experience. Emerging talent Khawaja Nafees has been included for the first time, signaling the selectors’ focus on preparing for the future. The batting lineup features Salman Ali Agha, Sahibzada Farhan, Saeem Ayub, and seasoned opener Fakhar Zaman, with confidence placed in all-rounders Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, and Mohammad Nawaz in the middle order.
The bowling department is well-balanced, with fast bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah expected to be key weapons for Pakistan. Based on recent performances, Osman Tariq and Salman Mirza have also earned spots in the squad, while Abrar Ahmed has been selected as a specialist spinner. Osman Khan will serve as a wicketkeeper-batsman.
Additionally, reserve players include Wasim Junior, Abdul Samad, and Hasan Ali, who can be called upon if required. The squad demonstrates Pakistan’s strategy of blending emerging talent with experienced performers to compete strongly on the global stage.
