Peshawar: (Roshan Khan) The Pakistan army has launched emergency relief and rescue operations in Kurram and Orakzai Districts following heavy snowfall and torrential rains that disrupted daily life and blocked key routes, officials said.
In upper Kurram’s Ozkzai region, security forces used heavy machinery to clear snow-blanketed roads from Manato village to the local college, restoring traffic flow on the Manato–Sadda road. several vehicles trapped in deep snow were properly recovered and shifted to secure locations.
Authorities said the timely operation helped reestablish critical connectivity in the region, allowing residents to resume essential travel. local residents appreciated the efforts of the security forces for reducing hardships amid harsh weather situations.
Meanwhile, in upper Orakzai, severe rainfall and unprecedented snowfall worsened conditions in remote areas, prompting the Pakistan army and Frontier Corps to initiate non-stop rescue and relief activities. despite poor visibility, freezing temperatures, and communication challenges, officers and soldiers personally supervised operations on the ground.
Dozens of travelers stranded during transit were rescued and relocated to safer areas. relief teams distributed hot meals, blankets, and emergency medical help to affected families. officials said relief operations will continue until climate conditions improve and normalcy is fully restored.
