The Sindh School Education Department has extended the revised school timings across the province due to the continuation of severe cold weather. According to the department, all government and private schools will now start classes at nine in the morning until February four.
An official notification confirming the extension has been issued. Earlier, the department had revised school timings from January eleven, instructing schools to open at nine in the morning while keeping closing times unchanged. That decision was initially set to remain in effect until January twenty six but has now been extended as temperatures remain unusually low.
Education authorities said the move was taken to protect students from harsh morning weather conditions and to ensure their safety and comfort. The revised timings apply uniformly to all schools in Sindh, and compliance has been made mandatory for both public and private institutions.
The ongoing cold wave has disrupted daily life across many parts of the province. Frost has been reported in several areas, while temperatures continue to remain below seasonal averages.
School administrators said the delayed opening time allows students to avoid traveling during the coldest hours of the day. Many parents have welcomed the decision, saying it reduces health risks for children.
The education department stated that weather conditions will continue to be monitored closely. Further changes to school schedules may be considered if the cold wave persists or intensifies.
