Web Desk: The Punjab government has announced major relief measures for people earning less than Rs 45,000 per month during the holy month of Ramadan.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari announced a Rs 47 billion “Nigehban Ramadan Package” for the people of the province, stating that around 4.2 million individuals will benefit from the initiative.
She said that special “Ramadan Sahulat Bazaars” will be set up five days before the start of Ramadan to provide essential food items at subsidized rates. These bazaars will offer daily necessities such as flour, rice, cooking oil, sugar, and other basic commodities at affordable prices.
The information minister further stated that under the supervision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, eligible families will receive financial assistance of up to Rs 10,000 through ration cards. The package aims to ease the burden on low- and middle-income households during Ramadan by facilitating the purchase of essential food items.
Azma Bukhari also made it clear that strict action will be taken against profiteering and hoarding, and the government will not allow anyone to exploit the public during the holy month.
This initiative is a major step by the Punjab government to address public needs during Ramadan and is expected to provide significant relief to low-income families.
