KARACHI: (Yaseen Hashmi) Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi carried out a two-hour visit of the Jinnah International Airpor and checked the immigration process and facilitation of passengers in departure counters.
Mohsin Naqvi also met outbound passengers during the visit and interviewed them about the immigration process to determine efficiency and compliance. He personally also checked the travel documents of some of the passengers travelling to Saudi Arabia and demanded on-the-spot checking by Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials.
FIA checked three passengers who were unable to answer the questions about their job and could not submit full or authentic documents. The Interior Minister commended FIA Assistant Sub-Inspector Aamir Lashari because of his alertness and professionalism in detecting anomalies.
Interior Minister remarked that officers executing their duties with honesty are a great asset to the nation and the passengers whose documentations are not complete or not verified will under no circumstance be permitted to travel.
He emphasized that professional beggars should not be allowed to go to other countries in the name of the genuine passengers and that the reputation and dignity of Pakistan cannot be compromised.
The Interior Minister also said that there is no passenger who has been and will not be stopped without a valid and complete documentation. He said that national dignity and making sure that legitimate travelers can move freely is a priority among the government.
The FIA regional director Karachi was with the Interior Minister during the inspection.
