PESHAWAR: (Anwarzeb Khan) Investigators have advanced the case of suicide bombing in the Federal Constabulary (FC) headquarters in Peshawar and have discovered that the facilitators of the attack were Afghan nationals, according to the officials.
The investigation authorities have claimed that the suicide attack was scheduled in Afghanistan and the major suspects involved in the event have been apprehended in the on-going activities. Authorities indicated that all the three suicide bombers that took part in the attack were also Afghans.
The attack was directed on the FC Headquarters on Nov. 24 last year, when several suicide bombers tried to enter the building. This led to the killing of three FC personnel and five others were injured. Also, the attack injured eight civilians.
Security agents reported that the probe is still underway, and more arrests likely to be made, as the government suppresses the network behind the attack. The available evidence has shown that the planning and logistical support of the attack had a cross-border involvement.
This has been a major complaint by Pakistan on how Afghan land can be used by militant groups to strategize and carry out attacks within the country. Law enforcement officers indicated that they are in a high alert and are enhancing intelligence based operations to avoid future incidences.
The police once again pledged to take all the perpetrators of this attack to book and maintain the protection of the sensitive installations in the province.
