Pakistan Squad Departs for Sri Lanka Ahead of ICC T20 World Cup

SPORTS DESK: (Click Pakistan) Team officials of the Pakistan National Cricket team confirmed on Sunday that the team has left Lahore to Sri Lanka to start preparing to be hosted in the impending ICC T20 World Cup.

As the team management says, players will have a full rest upon arrival in Sri Lanka on Monday and Tuesday to fight the travel fatigue and be physically and mentally fresh before important matches. The team will have the first warm-up on 4th of February with the Ireland game where majority of the players will have been tested to enable the management to assess the most appropriate combination.

According to the team officials, the warm-up matches were deemed to be very essential as it gave the time to test the form, fitness and tactical preparedness of the players prior to the commencement of the tournament.

Salman Ali Agha is the leader of the 15-member team, and it consists of both experienced and young players. Some of the key players in the team include Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Naseem Shah, Faheem Ashraf and Abrar Ahmed. Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Nawaz, Khawaja Muhammad Nafay, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Usman Khan and Usman Tariq are other players in the squad.

In the meantime, Pakistan has affirmed its presence at the T20 World Cup although it has reiterated that it did not intend to play the planned match with India and declared that it would boycott it. The move has raised controversy in the circles and fans of cricket.
