Lahore Imposes Kite Flying Ban Near Airport Ahead of Basant Celebrations

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

LAHORE: (Anwarzeb Khan) In Lahore the government has banned kite flying in the area of Allama Iqbal International Airport in the pretext of aviation safety issues.

As stated in an official notification by the district administration kite flying will be highly banned in areas around aircraft landing and takeoff routes to avoid possible threats to air traffic. The prohibition is on a number of residential areas such as Nadar Abad, Gulshan Ali Colony, Nishat Colony and Bhutta Chowk.

The notification continues to say that even in Defense Housing Authority (DHA) blocks R, S, P and Q, kite flying is also banned. Moreover, this is also limited to Al-Faisal Town, Jorray Pull, Tajpura and portions near Canal Road near Tajpura.

Governments have made it known that they will deal decisively with those who break the rules as stipulated in the laws to maintain safety of people and continuous operation of flights.

Basant will officially be celebrated in Lahore between Feb. 6 and 8 as announced by the Punjab government. With the preparations picking up pace, people throughout the city have gone in to buy kites and other materials associated with the preparations in bulk.

Nevertheless, in spite of the party spirit, authorities have encouraged people to follow the safety rules and observe restricted areas, reminding them that crowdsourcing and aviation security are in the priority list when the celebrations are taking place.
