Microsoft co founder Bill Gates has said he regrets every minute he spent with Jeffrey Epstein distancing himself from the convicted sex offender after newly released U.S. Justice Department documents revived public scrutiny of their association.
In an interview with 9News Australia Gates apologized for having met Epstein and firmly denied claims found in a draft email included among the files.The unsent email alleged that Gates had engaged in extramarital affairs and suggested Epstein had facilitated them. Gates dismissed the document as false, questioning Epstein’s intentions and suggesting it may have been an attempt to damage his reputation.
The Justice Department’s latest document release includes millions of emails photos, and records highlighting Epstein’s extensive connections with influential figures across business and politics.Epstein died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges officially ruled a suicide.
A spokesperson for Gates reinforced his denial stating the documents only demonstrate Epstein’s frustration over failing to maintain contact with Gates.The spokesperson described Epstein’s actions as attempts to manipulate and defame those around him.
Melinda French Gates who divorced Gates in 2021 has previously said her former husband still has questions to answer regarding his relationship with Epstein.
