SARGODHA (Tahir Kamboh):
The first Sargodha National Under-15 Junior Squash Championship was held under the auspices of the Sargodha Division Squash Association at the Sargodha Squash Complex.
The championship was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor of the University of Sargodha, Professor Dr Qaiser Abbas, who appreciated the excellent arrangements after witnessing the squash matches. Speaking to the media, he said Pakistan once dominated the world of squash for many years but later drifted away from the sport.
He emphasized that organizing tournaments like this junior championship would help identify new talent and pave the way for Pakistan to regain its lost glory on the international squash stage. Dr Qaiser Abbas added that the University of Sargodha is playing an active role in promoting sports and preparing talented athletes to represent the country at global forums.
The opening ceremony was attended by prominent personalities, squash officials, and a large number of players. At the conclusion of the event, the squash association presented commemorative shields to the chief guest and other dignitaries in recognition of their support.
