Former KP chief minister says repeated requests for medical examination remain unanswered
PESHAWAR: Ali Amin Gandapur has apologized for using harsh words in a recent outburst but defended his anger, saying it stemmed from concerns over the health of Imran Khan.
In a video statement, the former chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa expressed alarm over Khan’s reported eyesight issues and overall health condition. He said his reaction was justified because repeated requests to allow Khan’s personal physician to examine him have not been fulfilled.
Gandapur described it as unfortunate that a leader who introduced major public welfare initiatives, including a universal health card program providing free medical treatment to millions, is now facing obstacles in accessing medical care himself. He noted that the health card scheme was launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and later expanded nationwide during Khan’s tenure as Prime Minister.
He emphasized that the central issue remains ensuring proper medical access for the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party. Gandapur added that if such concerns do not evoke anger, it raises serious questions, urging supporters to stay focused on securing permission for Khan’s personal doctor to examine him at the earliest.
