Dry weather to dominate Pakistan this weekend, but northern regions face cold mornings and hazardous air quality in major cities
WEB DESK: Most parts of Pakistan are expected to see dry weather on Sunday, with daytime temperatures remaining above normal, while northern regions brace for cold mornings and nights, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
In Islamabad and nearby areas, dry conditions will dominate the day, but mornings and nights are expected to remain chilly. Across Punjab, most districts will also remain dry, with light to moderate fog in the northeast. Hill stations, including Murree and the Galiyat region, will experience dry but cold weather during early and late hours, while central and southern districts may see above-normal daytime temperatures.
Meanwhile, Lahore continues to face hazardous air pollution, topping the world’s most polluted cities list with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 394, raising health concerns, particularly for children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions.
In Sindh, dry weather is expected, though strong afternoon winds may provide minor relief. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will see mostly dry conditions, with upper areas remaining cold in the morning and night. Balochistan’s northern districts will experience chilly mornings and evenings, while most areas remain dry.
Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will remain cold and dry, with extreme cold in some areas, though daytime temperatures will be above normal. Authorities have advised residents to take precautions in northern regions and limit outdoor exposure in highly polluted areas like Lahore.
