Karachi: Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon strongly reacted to a recent press conference by MQM Pakistan leaders calling their remarks a reflection of lack of understanding and unfamiliarity with the Constitution.
Memon specifically referred to statements made by Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Mustafa Kamal questioning whether such comments represented official federal government policy. He urged the federal government to clarify its position asking why two federal ministers were allegedly engaged in propaganda against the Sindh government.
The minister further stated that the Governor House should not become a center for political confrontation or activities targeting the provincial government. He emphasized that the country was already facing significant political and economic challenges, warning that tensions between the federation and provinces would be counterproductive.
The response follows Siddiqui’s press conference in Karachi, where he criticized the Sindh government and referenced constitutional provisions, including Articles 239, 140A, and 48. Siddiqui also warned of possible legal action if Supreme Court rulings were not implemented.
The exchange highlights growing political friction between provincial authorities and MQM leadership.
