ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high level meeting on Sunday to review Pakistan’s security situation amid escalating tensions involving the United States Iran and Israel. The meeting was attended by Field Marshal Asim Munir Afghanistan and broader regional threats. Discussions included the impact of Iran’s retaliatory actions, termed Operation Wa’d e Sadiq Four in response to joint US Israel strikes known as Operation Epic Fury.
The review also focused on Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and ongoing border security operations including Operation Ghazab lil Haq along the Pakistan Afghanistan frontier. Authorities were briefed on internal security arrangements at sensitive sites nationwide and plans for the safe evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Iran with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinating transit via Azerbaijan.
Earlier, PM Shehbaz expressed Pakistan’s condolences to the people of Iran over the reported martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei, emphasizing solidarity in this moment of grief and sorrow in a statement shared on X.
