Pakistan highlights India’s alleged interference in Afghanistan and regional destabilisation during UN Security Council meeting
United Nations: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, sharply criticised India during a United Nations Security Council session on Afghanistan, accusing New Delhi of supporting militant groups and spreading disinformation.
Responding to statements by Indian and Afghan representatives, Ahmad said Pakistan’s recent counter-terrorism operations inside Afghanistan had undermined what he termed India’s “investment” in terrorist networks.
“One can sense India’s pain in seeing its heavy investment in the Afghan terrorist franchise going to waste as a result of Pakistan’s precise and effective action against terrorist camps and support bases inside Afghanistan,” Ahmad stated.
He further accused India of violating international law and UN Charter principles, engaging in regional destabilisation, and perpetrating state repression. Ahmad also condemned India’s policies in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, citing state terrorism, marginalisation of minorities, and the spread of hate through disinformation.
The Pakistani envoy additionally alleged that India sought to weaponize water resources to harm Pakistan’s population. The remarks came amid broader discussions at the Security Council on security challenges and regional stability in Afghanistan.
