A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Lahore has been arrested in connection with a major fraud case, while his son remains at large. According to Muhammad Naveed, the suspect Azhar Naveed was taken into custody after a case was registered under the Embezzlement Act.
Police officials stated that the case was filed following a complaint by a citizen identified as Hussam, who alleged that the DSP and his son defrauded him by taking money for vehicle bookings. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the suspects allegedly received payments from the complainant and later transferred approximately Rs33.3 million (Rs3.33 crore) into their personal bank accounts.
Authorities revealed that DSP Azhar Naveed was serving in the Security Division of the Lahore Police at the time the alleged fraud took place. Investigators believe the suspects used their positions and influence to gain the trust of the complainant before carrying out the financial scam.
Police confirmed that Azhar Naveed is currently in custody and is being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, efforts are underway to locate and arrest his son who is still absconding.
Officials assured that strict legal action will be taken and that no one is above the law.
