Federal Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik says soaring global oil prices and renewed regional tensions are increasing pressure on energy markets, while urging recognition of the public’s resilience.
Pakistan is facing renewed pressure from rising global energy prices as Federal Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said international oil markets have witnessed an extraordinary surge amid escalating regional tensions. Speaking alongside Information Minister Atta Tarar, Malik said the situation appears to be worsening despite diplomatic efforts by the prime minister and the field marshal.
The minister stated that international oil prices have climbed sharply, adding that diesel prices in the global market have also increased significantly. According to him, the international price of diesel has risen from around $110 per barrel to nearly $140 per barrel, placing additional strain on energy-importing countries.
Malik said these developments could create further economic challenges, particularly for countries dependent on imported petroleum products. He emphasized that the government continues to monitor the evolving situation closely.
The federal minister also acknowledged the public’s patience during difficult economic conditions, saying citizens have shown resilience despite ongoing challenges linked to rising energy costs and global market volatility.
The remarks come as international oil markets remain under pressure due to heightened geopolitical tensions, raising concerns about their potential impact on domestic fuel prices and inflation.
