Pakistan: (Yaseen Hashmi) Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has stepped up the war against drug trafficking by arresting five suspects in five separate missions that had been launched in various cities, according to the authorities.
In the process, the ANF had seized narcotics worth over 1.9 million Pakistani rupees.
Officials said that one of the suspects was arrested by the Fateh Jang Interchange after the police found 12 kilograms of hashish in a car. In Chak 196, Faisalabad during another operation, a motorcyclist was caught with 7.2 kilograms of hashish. Another motorcycle rider who was trafficking 1.6 kilograms of hashish was arrested in a separate raid in Johar Colony in Faisalabad.
At Sialkot, ANF officers discovered a shipment at a courier office located on the Daska Road, and found 1 kilogram of crystal meth (ice) smuggled into an electric heater. The suspect was immediately arrested.
Close to Burhan, on the GT Road, in Attock district, a cement-filled truck had been found and 400 grams of crystal meth and 500 grams of hashish were seized by the authorities, leading to another arrest.
The ANF reported that cases were registered on all of the suspects in the Anti-Narcotics Act of 1997 and that a further investigation is being conducted.
