Lahore court defers indictment proceedings after Rajab Butt’s lawyers were unavailable for the hearing.
A Lahore sessions court on Saturday adjourned proceedings on a private complaint filed by TikToker Ayesha Jutt alleging sexual assault, as lawyers representing YouTuber Rajab Butt were unavailable for the hearing.
Additional Sessions Judge Zafaryab Chadhar heard the complaint against Butt and other accused persons. The court could not frame charges against the accused due to the absence of Butt’s lawyers.
A junior lawyer representing the defense told the court that Barrister Mian Ali Ashfaq and Advocate Rana Abdul Maroof were busy with other matters and requested another date for the proceedings.
The court accepted the request and adjourned the hearing until Sept. 3.
All the accused appeared before the court and marked their attendance during the proceedings.
The accused named in the case include Rajab Butt, Salman Haider, Abdul Rehman, Jahangir and Jawad.
According to the case details provided, Nawab Town police registered a case against the accused over the allegations.
