Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir: Polling for the 2026 Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections began on time at 8:00 a.m. across Mirpur Division, with Chief Election Commissioner Justice (R) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal confirming that the voting process was proceeding peacefully.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Election Commissioner said election activities had started smoothly and that no major disruptions had been reported during the early hours of polling. He appealed to eligible voters across Mirpur Division to come out and exercise their constitutional right by casting their ballots.
Justice Mughal emphasized that elections provide citizens with the opportunity to choose their representatives and play a direct role in forming the next government. He urged voters not to compromise on the value of their vote and encouraged them to participate actively in the democratic process.
The Chief Election Commissioner also assured the public that effective security arrangements had been put in place to ensure the safe movement of voters to and from polling stations. He said law enforcement agencies and election staff were working together to facilitate a peaceful and transparent voting process.
Appealing to the public to ignore misinformation, Justice Mughal urged citizens not to pay attention to rumors and instead cast their votes on time.
