Police say the suspect, who is the victim’s cousin, allegedly confessed to fatally stabbing the nine-year-old inside a mosque, while investigators continue to examine all aspects of the case.
LOWER SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Police have arrested the prime suspect in the murder of a nine-year-old boy in the Zeri Noor area of Wana after he allegedly confessed to the crime during interrogation, officials said.
According to police, the accused, Ahmad Wazir Mughalkhel, was taken into custody in connection with the killing of his cousin, nine-year-old Waqas Wazir Mughalkhel. Authorities described the arrest as a major breakthrough in a case that has deeply disturbed the local community.
Investigators said the attack occurred on Friday inside a mosque in Zeri Noor, where the suspect allegedly stabbed the child with a sharp-edged knife. The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Police also recovered the alleged murder weapon during the investigation.
Speaking at a joint press conference at Wana City Police Station, DSP Asghar Ali Shah and SHO Usman Wazir said the suspect was arrested after investigators reviewed evidence and witness statements. The accused was presented to the media following his arrest.
