More than 6,000 students from across Pakistan participated in the nationwide internship programme, where discussions focused on national security, digital misinformation and responsible social media use.
RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) held a special interactive session with participants of the ISPR Summer Internship 2026, engaging students on national security, terrorism, misinformation and the responsible use of social media.
According to ISPR, the nationwide internship programme has attracted more than 6,000 students from across Pakistan, who are participating at 21 locations. The initiative is designed to increase awareness among young people about national institutions, security challenges and the country’s evolving strategic environment.
During the session, the DG ISPR answered a broad range of questions from students, providing detailed insights into Pakistan’s security landscape, information warfare and the importance of verifying information before sharing it online. The discussion emphasized the growing influence of digital platforms and the need for responsible online behavior.
A major focus of the interaction was the challenge posed by misinformation, disinformation and propaganda. Students were encouraged to critically assess online content, rely on verified sources and avoid sharing unconfirmed information that could mislead the public or undermine national interests.
Participants described the session as informative and educational, saying it helped them better understand how false narratives are created and spread across digital platforms. Many noted that the discussion clarified misconceptions related to national security and current affairs.
The briefing also included an overview of the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), where students were briefed on Pakistan’s official position and recent regional developments. According to participants, the discussion offered greater insight into the broader context surrounding issues affecting the region.
Students also raised questions regarding security threats and what the military described as hostile propaganda campaigns. They said the detailed responses helped resolve several concerns and provided a clearer understanding of complex national issues.
At the conclusion of the session, participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting accurate information, using social media responsibly and contributing to informed public discourse by relying on credible and verified sources.
