KARACHI: (Click Pakistan) A 14 year gap in direct air connectivity between Pakistan and Bangladesh was bridged when a flight flew between Dhaka and Karachi at the Jinnah international Airport in Karachi, a crucial step in bilateral travelling and interaction.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the pioneer in nonstop flights and is predicted to reinforce people-to-people association, business relations, sightseeing and cultural exchange between the two South Asian countries. Those involved in aviation termed the restart of the route a much awaited thing by the people of the region in terms of travelers, business communities, and expatriates.
The pilot landed in Karachi to a warm reception and authorities emphasized the significance of the improved air connectivity in the connectivity and economic collaboration in the region. The first flight customers were optimistic that the direct service would cut down the travel time and cost, which used to take the transit through the third countries.
Airline authorities point out that the route between Dhaka and Karachi will first have twice a week run this year though there are chances of increasing the frequency depending on the demand of passengers and the feasibility of the operation. The business travelers, tourists, students and families with cross-border associations are supposed to be the service customers.
Aviation analysts are of the opinion that the reestablished route will create new avenues to bilateral trade especially in textile, pharmaceuticals among other major industries, as well as boost more tourism and cultural exchange between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
