Dr. Muhammad Salman Appointed PIMS Executive Director for Three Years

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has appointed Dr. Muhammad Salman as executive director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for three years following the suspension of Grade 21 officer Prof. Dr. Rana Imran Sikandar.

An official administrative notification said Prof. Dr. Rana Imran Sikandar has been suspended for four months. The move comes after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif took strict notice of an incident at PIMS and approved disciplinary action against senior officials and other responsible individuals.

According to the notification, Dr. Muhammad Salman, who currently serves as executive director of the National Institute of Health (NIH), will also continue performing his NIH duties while holding the additional responsibility of PIMS executive director.

Dr. Altaf Hussain has also been appointed joint executive director of PIMS for three months, according to the administrative order.

The government has issued further notifications regarding administrative changes and new appointments across various departments of the hospital as part of the broader post-incident measures.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had earlier approved the immediate suspension and disciplinary proceedings against eight individuals in connection with the PIMS incident. The action also extended to the security company deployed at the hospital and its officials.

Those suspended included PIMS joint executive directors Dr. Mutahir Shah and Dr. Owais Ali Shah. Dr. Nousheela Amjad, Assistant Director Security Muhammad Usman, Capital Development Authority Emergency Services Director General Abdul Rehman, Neonatal Department head Dr. Saadia Riaz and a senior registrar were also among those facing action.
