Easypaisa Hits PKR 232 Billion in Assets With 60 Million Users as Digital Banking Expands

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

ISLAMABAD: Easypaisa digital bank reported a pre-tax profit of PKR 8.26 billion for the first half of 2026, marking a 2.27-fold increase from the same period last year as customer deposits and revenue recorded strong growth.

The bank’s Board of Directors approved the financial statements for the six months ended June 30 on Aug. 24. Profit after tax stood at PKR 5.78 billion, while earnings per share reached PKR 9.61.

Total revenue increased 30.50% year over year, with net markup income rising 32.46% and fee-based income increasing 28.34%. The growth reflected higher contributions from lending, payments, collections, disbursements and insurance-related services.

Customer deposits were a key driver of the bank’s balance-sheet expansion. Deposits increased 67.37% year over year to PKR 158.58 billion, while total assets reached PKR 232.58 billion.

The bank reported a CASA ratio of 97.46%, with current accounts accounting for 79.95% of deposits. Gross advances stood at PKR 31.11 billion, resulting in an advances-to-deposit ratio of 18.63%.

Easypaisa’s non-performing loans stood at 3.16%, while its coverage ratio was 159.63%. The bank also reported a capital adequacy ratio of 23.75%, providing a substantial buffer above regulatory requirements.

Operating expenses reached PKR 21.08 billion as the bank continued investing in growth initiatives.

The results follow a reported upgrade by the Pakistan Credit Rating Agency, or PACRA, of Easypaisa’s long-term entity rating to AA-, while its short-term rating was reaffirmed at A1. The rating action was reported on July 1, 2026.

Easypaisa, which has 60 million registered users, is also preparing to broaden its product portfolio. According to the results announcement, the bank is developing Islamic banking and foreign exchange products, while Buy Now Pay Later and credit card offerings are also in development.

President and CEO Jahanzeb Khan said the bank’s first-half profitability reflected the resilience of its business model, customer trust and its focus on advancing financial inclusion in Pakistan.
