According to reports, Ali Murtaza was traveling from Quetta to Karachi with his wife and two daughters when they allegedly followed directions provided by Google Maps into the Dasht area of Balochistan. The region has previously witnessed militant activity. Their vehicle reportedly came under gunfire from local assailants, killing Ali Murtaza at the scene. His wife sustained serious injuries, while both daughters survived unharmed.
Ali Murtaza was laid to rest in Karachi on Sunday after funeral prayers at Rehmania Mosque on Tariq Road. Family members, relatives, and members of the business community attended the funeral.
Speaking to the media afterward, Ali Murtaza’s father delivered an emotional message, saying his son believed he was traveling within his own country. He urged the government to ensure the safety of citizens or restrict travel to areas where security cannot be guaranteed. He also expressed hope that no other family would experience a similar tragedy and prayed for his son’s place in Jannah.
The incident has generated widespread reaction on social media, where many users expressed sorrow over the loss and called for improved security measures. The tragedy has also intensified public discussion about the security situation in parts of Balochistan and the need for greater protection for travelers.
