QUETTA: (Rashid Bugti) Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Chief Minister of Balochistan announced that another practical move towards women empowerment and police-friendliness has been made by the provincial government by appointing women police officers to key positions in all the districts of Naseerabad Range.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti stated that women officers have been allowed to serve in the police stations as complaint officers, deputy clerks, computer operators and other administrative and decision making positions. He claimed that the move has already made the process of handling cases concerning domestic violence and cases involving the community to resolve faster and gain public confidence.
TheChief Minister hailed the Inspector General of Police Balochistan and the Deputy Inspector General of Naseerabad Range in undertaking the initiative and that efficiency in the use of abilities of the women officers would make policing more powerful, service delivery better and where people facilities were enhanced.
According to Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the reforms are meant to ensure the establishment of a safe, dignified, and trust-based atmosphere in the police stations so that citizens (women, in particular) can file complaints without fear or misgivings.
He said that the additional inclusion of women in the police force would enhance more trust in the police institutions and lead to building a just and civilised society.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti restated the intentions of the government when he said that offering women equal opportunities in all sectors is still a major component of the overall reform agenda of the provincial government, and that these efforts will go on in future.
