Islamabad: (Yaseen Hashmi) The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in Pakistan has gone on a countrywide spurt in cracking down on drug trafficking activities arresting one suspect in the process seizing narcotics worth over 13.3 million rupees in three countrywide operations.
The initial operation according to an ANF spokesperson was done at Bacha Khan International Airport where a passenger travelling to Bahrain was caught in possession of one kilogramme of Methamphetamine (ice) hidden in his baggage. The accused was arrested on the ground and a court case was started.
In another raid the ANF officials raided a courier office close to Haji Camp in Peshawar and retrieved 60 kilogrammes of hashish that were concealed in knitting machine to be shipped out. Police indicated that the drugs were well smuggled so as to avoid detection.
The third operation was carried out in the vicinities of Balkasar interchange in the Kallar Kahar region in which ANF troops stopped a vehicle and found 114 kilogrammes of hashish hidden inside its compartments. This operation did not involve any arrest and the same is still being investigated.
All the cases have been registered under Anti-Narcotics Act,1997. ANF officials once again gave promise of destroying drug trafficking networks and said that the intelligence-based operations will carry on in Pakistan.
