Police intervention in Islamabad’s I-9 Markaz prevents the alleged abduction of a foreign couple holding US and UK citizenship, leading to the arrest of three suspects including a former police officer.
A swift police response in Islamabad has foiled an alleged kidnapping attempt targeting a foreign married couple holding US and UK citizenship, authorities said on Sunday.
The incident unfolded in the busy commercial hub of I-9 Markaz, where suspects allegedly tried to intercept the couple before officers intervened and secured the scene. Police confirmed that three individuals were taken into custody, including a former law enforcement officer, raising serious concerns about insider involvement.
According to officials, the suspects attempted to execute a coordinated plan but were quickly overpowered by responding teams, preventing any harm to the targeted individuals. The foreign couple was safely relocated and is currently under protective observation.
Law enforcement agencies have launched a deeper investigation to determine whether the attempt was part of a broader criminal network operating in Pakistan. Authorities are also reviewing surveillance footage and communication records to trace additional links.
