Local elders and students urge authorities to release approved funds and launch academic activities at Gomal University’s Makin sub-campus.
SOUTH WAZIRISTAN UPPER: Local elders, community leaders and students staged a protest in Makin, demanding the immediate release of approved funds for Gomal University’s Makin sub-campus and the start of regular classes.
The protesters called on the federal and provincial governments, the corps commander, the inspector general of the Frontier Corps and other relevant authorities to ensure the release of funds and facilitate the launch of academic activities at the campus.
According to the protesters, approval for the Gomal University Makin sub-campus was granted some time ago, and a notification regarding the release of funds has also been issued. However, they said academic activities have yet to begin because the approved funds have not been released.
The protesters said young people from the area are forced to travel to other districts to pursue higher education, creating additional difficulties and limiting their access to educational opportunities.
They urged all relevant stakeholders to treat the matter as a priority, release the required funds and ensure that classes begin at the Makin sub-campus as soon as possible.
The protesters said the establishment and activation of the campus would provide local youth with greater access to higher education and help them contribute more effectively to the development of the country.
They warned that if immediate progress is not made on their demands, they would expand their protest to the Islamabad Press Club and Peshawar.
