Ishaq Dar to Attend Emergency OIC Meeting on Middle East Developments

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Ishaq Dar Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister will travel to Jeddah to attend an emergency session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Executive Committee on February 26. The meeting to be held at the OIC General Secretariat will take place at the foreign ministers’ level and focus on recent developments in the Middle East and Palestine.

Diplomatic sources indicated that discussions will center on Israel’s reported declaration of lands in the occupied West Bank as Israeli property. OIC member states are expected to strongly condemn what they describe as legal, political, and demographic measures altering the status of Palestinian territories.

Dar will represent Pakistan and is expected to deliver a firm stance on the issue while also participating in consultations on a coordinated diplomatic response. During his visit Dar is scheduled to meet Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and engage with other participating leaders.

Separately remarks by Benjamin Netanyahu regarding a proposed regional alliance have drawn criticism. Pakistan’s Senate unanimously passed a resolution condemning the statements reaffirming support for Palestinian rights and opposing any changes to the legal and historical status of Palestinian territories.
