Islamabad Issues Alternate Traffic Plan Ahead of Foreign Delegations’ Arrival and Red Zone Closure

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Authorities in Islamabad announce comprehensive traffic diversions and road closures as foreign delegations arrive, urging commuters and heavy transport operators to follow alternative routes.

ISLAMABAD: Authorities in the federal capital have issued a detailed alternate traffic management plan in anticipation of the arrival of foreign delegations, resulting in widespread road closures and diversions across key routes in the city.

According to the traffic advisory, the Red Zone and Extended Red Zone will remain completely closed to all types of traffic until further notice. The Islamabad Expressway from Korral to Zero Point will also remain shut for all vehicular movement during this period.

Officials further stated that Srinagar Highway may face intermittent closures depending on security requirements. In addition, entry of all heavy traffic into Islamabad from any direction or highway has been strictly prohibited as part of enhanced security measures.

Heavy transport operators have been strongly advised to avoid traveling toward Islamabad during these days to prevent inconvenience and delays.

For residents of sectors G-5, G-6, G-7, F-6, and F-7 commuting to and from Rawalpindi, authorities have designated Margalla Road and 9th Avenue as the primary alternative routes. Traffic from Faisal Avenue heading toward Zero Point will be diverted toward 9th Avenue as part of the revised plan.

In case of closure between Zero Point and Korral Chowk, commuters are advised to use Srinagar Highway to 9th Avenue, then proceed via Stadium Road, Murree Road, Chandni Chowk, and Rawal Road to reach Korral.

If Park Road to Club Road remains closed, traffic will be redirected toward Tramri Chowk. Citizens traveling between Bhara Kahu and Rawalpindi are advised to use Korang Road, Bani Gala, and Lehtrar Road as alternative options.

For travelers between Rawalpindi Saddar and Islamabad, officials have suggested either Colonel Sher Khan Road leading to Faqir Aapi Road or 9th Avenue as viable routes.

On intercity highways, heavy traffic from Peshawar to Lahore will be diverted from Taxila to Motorway via Chakri Interchange and Chak Beli Road toward Rawat GT Road. Similarly, traffic from Lahore to Peshawar will follow GT Road via Rawat, Chak Beli Road, Chakri Interchange, and Motorway toward Taxila.

Authorities have urged commuters to stay updated through official channels, including the Islamabad Traffic Police WhatsApp channel, social media pages, and ITP FM 92.4 for real-time guidance and updates.
