Islamabad Wildlife Management Board officials recovered an illegal Urial trophy from a shop in Barakahu and handed it over for legal action.
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) recovered an illegal Urial trophy during a routine patrol in Barakahu, Islamabad, according to a statement provided to Click Pakistan.
The trophy was recovered from Awami Nilaam Ghar, a shop in the Barakahu area, during the wildlife management board’s patrol operation.
IWMB officials, accompanied by police, seized the trophy and handed it over for legal action under Section 18 of the Islamabad Wildlife Act 2024.
The recovery highlights the enforcement of wildlife protection laws in the Islamabad Capital Territory and the authorities’ efforts to prevent the illegal possession and trade of wildlife trophies.
An Urial is a wild sheep species native to parts of South and Central Asia and is among the wildlife species requiring protection under applicable conservation laws.
The IWMB’s action also underscores the role of routine patrolling in identifying and responding to suspected violations involving protected wildlife.
The seized trophy has been handed over for further legal proceedings under the relevant provision of the Islamabad Wildlife Act 2024.
