Karachi Court Extends Interim Bail of YouTuber Rajab Butt

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Karachi: An Additional District and Sessions Judge has granted an extension of interim bail to YouTuber Rajab Butt, who is facing charges over alleged insults to Islamic symbols. During the hearing, the complainant’s lawyer raised concerns that the session was scheduled for 8:30 am, but Rajab Butt appeared an hour late at 9:30 am and requested the court to cancel the bail.

The complainant’s side was ready to present evidence, but the defence counsel failed to appear. A junior lawyer representing Rajab Butt explained that their counsel, Mian Ali Ashfaq, was on official leave. The judge highlighted that the defence had previously failed to appear and advised them to submit a formal request.

The court approved the adjournment for the defence lawyers’ hearing and extended Rajab Butt’s interim bail until March 30, 2026.

This case was registered at Hyderi Market Police Station, and Rajab Butt had previously been released on interim bail. The YouTuber was earlier assaulted by a group of lawyers at Karachi City Court after an argument escalated into a scuffle. His defence team intervened to stop the attack, and Rajab Butt was escorted safely out of the court premises.

The court will revisit the matter on the next hearing, ensuring that all procedural requirements are met for both prosecution and defence.
