The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee has announced the cancellation of its planned long march after receiving a request from the representative nominated by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for negotiations. However, the committee has made it clear that its ongoing sit-in protest will continue.
According to the statement dated July 15, 2026, the committee’s field marshal reviewed the current situation during discussions held on July 13 and 14. Following the talks, a special representative was appointed to advance negotiations with the Joint Awami Action Committee.
The committee said the nominated representative requested that the long march scheduled for July 15 be postponed to allow time for dialogue and a peaceful resolution of the public’s demands.
Accepting the request, the committee announced the cancellation of the march, expressing confidence that all issues could be resolved through negotiations. It emphasized that the sit-in would remain in place until practical progress is made on the demands presented to the authorities.
The statement also urged supporters to remain peaceful, disciplined, and united throughout the ongoing protest. Committee leaders thanked the public for their continued support and patience, expressing hope that negotiations would lead to a positive outcome.
