Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif marked Mother’s Day with a deeply emotional and reflective message, paying tribute to mothers across Pakistan and around the world, describing them as the true foundation of families and society.
In her message, she said mothers represent compassion, sacrifice, and unconditional love, adding that their role in shaping generations cannot be overstated. She paid special tribute to mothers of martyrs and veterans, calling them “brave and dignified women who sent their sons to the battlefield with courage and pride.”
Maryam Nawaz also acknowledged working mothers who strive tirelessly for their children, as well as those who endure hardship and hunger just to ensure their children are fed and cared for. She described such mothers as symbols of selflessness and strength.
Highlighting the emotional essence of motherhood, she said a mother is like a “cool shade in the scorching heat of life,” offering comfort, peace, and protection. She further stated that divine love is reflected through the love of a mother, which elevates her status in both religion and society.
The chief minister emphasized that mothers are not only the emotional backbone of families but also the structural pillar of society, shaping values, character, and future generations. She described Mother’s Day as an important occasion to recognize their extraordinary sacrifices and lifelong devotion.
Expressing personal emotion, Maryam Nawaz said she feels the absence of her own mother, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, especially on such occasions. She recalled her mother’s love and prayers, stating that her success and current position are a result of those blessings.
She concluded her message by praying for the health, safety, and well-being of all mothers, and urged society to honor and respect mothers not only on Mother’s Day but every single day.
